The F.P. Journe Quantième Perpétuel Ref. QP is built for readability. Where many perpetual calendars crowd the dial, this one uses large apertures: two at 12 o’clock for the day and month, and a large date in two windows at 6 o’clock, a signature of F.P. Journe. The power reserve sits at 9 o’clock, and a central hand tracks the leap year, with 1, 2, and 3 in black and L in red for the leap year itself. This version is in an 18k 6N rose gold case, 40mm across and 10.85mm high, with a whitened silver guilloché dial and 5N gold numerals and apertures.
The calendar is also easy to set. Every correction is made with the three-position crown, except the month, which uses a hidden, protected corrector lever under the lug at 1 o’clock, so the watch can be adjusted over four years with no special tool. An F.P. Journe energy-storage system makes the date, day, and month change instantly, then slows the mechanism at the end of its travel.
Inside is Calibre 1300.3, an automatic movement in 18k rose gold with an off-centre 22K gold guilloché rotor that winds in one direction. It beats at 21,600 vph (3 Hz) and carries a power reserve of around 160 hours. The bridges have circular Côtes de Genève, the baseplate is circular grained, and the screw heads are polished with chamfered slots. Whether you are searching for an F.P.
