Saxon Precision Watchmaking from Glashütte
A. Lange & Söhne traces its heritage to 1845, when Ferdinand Adolph Lange established a watch manufacture in Glashütte and helped lay the foundations of Saxony's precision-watchmaking tradition. Lange pocket watches became known for disciplined engineering, fine finishing and a distinctly German approach to movement construction.
After the company was expropriated in the aftermath of the Second World War, the name nearly disappeared. Ferdinand Adolph Lange's great-grandson Walter Lange revived the manufacture in 1990, and on 24 October 1994 A. Lange & Söhne presented the first four watches of its new era, including the LANGE 1 with its asymmetrical dial and signature outsize date.
Modern A. Lange & Söhne is recognised for in-house movements, untreated German-silver plates and bridges, hand engraving and movements that are assembled with exceptional attention to finishing. The DATOGRAPH, ZEITWERK and ODYSSEUS have expanded the manufacture from classical complications into chronographs, digital-style mechanical displays and sporty-elegant watchmaking.
