Brand Story

Audemars Piguet

Independent Haute Horlogerie from Le Brassus Since 1875

Audemars Piguet was founded in the Vallée de Joux in 1875 by Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet. Still independent and family-owned, the Le Brassus manufacture built its early reputation on complicated mechanical watchmaking, including chiming watches, calendars and highly finished movements.

In 1972, Audemars Piguet changed the language of the luxury sports watch with the Royal Oak. Designed by Gérald Genta, its hand-finished steel case, octagonal bezel, exposed screws and integrated bracelet challenged the idea that precious metals were essential to high-end watchmaking.

The Royal Oak Offshore followed in 1993 with a larger, more overtly sporting character, while Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet arrived in 2019 as a contemporary platform for new case architecture, calibres and complications. Together, these collections reflect the manufacture's mix of traditional hand-finishing and unconventional design.
