New York Jewelry Energy Meets Spectacular Mechanical Watchmaking
Jacob & Co. was founded in New York in 1986 by jeweler Jacob Arabo. The house first became known for bold, highly individual jewelry before bringing the same visual confidence into watches, connecting luxury jewelry and watchmaking with music, entertainment and contemporary celebrity culture.
The Five Time Zone watch, introduced in 2002, became an early signature and helped establish Jacob & Co. as a watch name in its own right. The brand later moved decisively into complicated mechanical watchmaking, combining high jewelry, unusual displays and animated mechanisms.
The Astronomia Tourbillon, first shown in 2014, became one of the clearest expressions of this approach, turning the movement into a rotating three-dimensional spectacle. Today collections such as Astronomia, Bugatti and Opera continue to combine elaborate mechanics with gem-setting, sculpture and theatrical display.
