Three-Dimensional Watchmaking Built Around Fundamental Inventions
Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey began developing their shared vision at the turn of the millennium and formally introduced Greubel Forsey in 2004. Their work centres on rethinking regulating organs, movement architecture and traditional finishing rather than simply repeating established complications.
The Double Tourbillon 30° became the atelier's first major invention. Its inner tourbillon cage is inclined at 30 degrees and rotates once per minute inside an outer cage that rotates once every four minutes, an architecture designed to average out positional errors caused by gravity in typical wristwatch positions.
Greubel Forsey later developed the Tourbillon 24 Secondes, Quadruple Tourbillon, Double Balancier and other highly three-dimensional movements. The manufacture is equally associated with intensive hand-finishing, engraved details and a philosophy of producing complex watches in very limited numbers.
