Part of Romain Gauthier’s Freedom collection, the Insight Micro-Rotor Squelette Natural Titanium combines the lightness of a natural Grade 5 titanium case with one of the most spectacular hand-finished movements in independent watchmaking. The 39.5mm case is water resistant to 50 metres and fitted with sapphire crystals on both sides so the openworked calibre can be admired from front and back.
The off-centre hours, minutes and small seconds are shown on an oven-fired, Grand Feu grey enamel dial. Around it, the matte skeletonised mainplate and bridges in natural titanium receive around 100 hours of superlative hand finishing. Romain Gauthier chose titanium for its strength, lightness and natural beauty, allowing the bridges to be skeletonised to extremely fine dimensions and then bevelled by hand.
The in-house automatic Insight Micro-Rotor calibre features a 22k gold bidirectional micro-rotor that winds a serially coupled double mainspring barrel, delivering constant force and an 80-hour power reserve. It beats at 28,800 vph, uses the Romain Gauthier balance wheel with curved arms and a triangular pallet lever, and places the crown at 2 o’clock for comfort.
