Launched in 2023 as the debut of designer Sylvain Berneron’s independent brand, the Mirage won the 2024 GPHG Audacity Prize. Berneron describes it as the first shaped watch to draw its asymmetry from its calibre rather than from an external shape: the movement abandons the traditional circular layout to fit a larger barrel, and the case follows the line of the gear train. The Sienna takes its name from the earth pigment named after the Italian city-state of Siena.
The 38 x 34mm case in 18k yellow gold is 42mm lug to lug and just 7mm thick (4.9mm visible height), with a hesalite top crystal, a sapphire caseback and 30 metres of water resistance. The dial is solid 18k yellow gold, and the 18k yellow gold hands use an inverted hand set with the hour hand on top, alongside a direct small seconds.
The proprietary hand-wound Calibre 233 measures 30 x 28 x 2.3mm, has 135 components and 17 jewels, beats at 21,600 vph with a free-sprung balance and stores 72 hours of power. Its 18k gold main plate and bridges are finished with guillochage, colimaçonnage, a laser-engraved barrel, anglage, traits tirés and nuagé bridge pockets. The case, dial, hands, buckle and spring bars are all 18k gold, and the watch is worn on a Barenia leather strap with an 18k yellow gold buckle.
Production is limited to 24 pieces per year per dial colour, each with an individual case number, and all components are made in the Swiss cantons of Neuchâtel and Jura.
