Brand Story

Richard Mille

High-Tech Materials, Extreme Engineering and Modern Haute Horlogerie

Richard Mille entered watchmaking in 2001 with the RM 001 Tourbillon, produced in an initial series of just 17 watches. From the beginning, the brand approached a mechanical watch as a high-performance technical object, combining complex movements with an architectural tonneau case and materials associated with motorsport, aerospace and advanced engineering.

The brand became particularly known for testing complicated watches in demanding sporting environments. The RM 027 Tourbillon was worn by Rafael Nadal in competition, while subsequent RM 27 models pursued lower weight and greater shock resistance. Richard Mille also developed extensive use of titanium, carbon composites, sapphire and other technical materials.

Models such as the RM 50-03 Tourbillon Split Seconds Chronograph and the 1.75 mm-thick RM UP-01 Ferrari illustrate the brand's continuing focus on structural experimentation. Richard Mille watches are defined less by traditional dress-watch conventions than by visible mechanics, lightness, ergonomics and engineering-led design.
