The Mirage 34 brings Berneron’s GPHG-winning asymmetric design to a more compact 30 x 34mm case, 38mm lug to lug and 7mm thick. Its proportions follow the Fibonacci sequence, and in line with the brand’s “one watch, one movement” philosophy it is powered by a calibre developed specifically for this size. The case is crafted in 18k white gold with a hesalite top crystal, sapphire caseback and 30 metres of water resistance.
The monobloc dial is hand-sculpted from what Berneron describes as the highest grade of lapis lazuli, sourced from Afghanistan, with its deep blue tones and natural golden flecks. The small seconds counter is cut by hand into the main plate, leaving just 0.40mm of material, a process that takes around an hour, and each dial is inspected by hand. The hands are 18k white gold.
Inside is the proprietary hand-wound Calibre 215 with direct small seconds, measuring 21 x 25 x 2.15mm. It has 118 components and 23 jewels, beats at 25,200 vph (3.5Hz) and offers 72 hours of power reserve. The 18k gold main plate and bridges are finished with grained plate, guillochage, anglage, cerclage and black-polished screws. The case, hands, buckle and spring bars are all 18k gold, and the watch is fitted on a Barenia leather strap with an 18k white gold buckle.
All components are made in the Swiss cantons of Neuchâtel and Jura, and each watch carries an individual case number.
