The Patek Philippe Complications 5172G-010 is a classic men’s chronograph with a vintage spirit, loved by collectors of fine mechanical watchmaking. The 41mm white gold case is 11.45mm thick and has three-tier lugs, guilloched chronograph pushers, and a sapphire-crystal box glass. A sapphire crystal caseback shows the movement, and water resistance is 30 metres.
The dial is a rose-gilt opaline surface that gives the watch its salmon tone. Charcoal gray white gold applied numerals and syringe-shaped hands both carry a white luminescent coating, and a tachymeter scale runs around the edge. The watch is worn on a shiny chocolate brown alligator leather strap with square scales, hand-stitched, with a white gold fold-over clasp.
Inside is the manual-winding Calibre CH 29-535 PS, Patek Philippe’s first Manufacture-made chronograph movement, introduced in 2009. It has traditional construction with a column wheel and horizontal clutch, combined with six patented innovations, and offers a central chronograph hand, an instantaneous 30-minute counter, and small seconds. The movement has 270 parts and 33 jewels, a Breguet balance spring, beats at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), and carries the Patek Philippe Seal, with a minimum power reserve of 65 hours with the chronograph disengaged.
