The F.P. Journe Tourbillon Souverain Vertical Ref. TV was created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Tourbillon Souverain. Its cage is vertical rather than horizontal, so the tourbillon performs the same whether the watch lies flat or on its side. The vertical tourbillon is combined with a remontoir d’égalité (constant force) and a deadbeat second, and completes one revolution every 30 seconds, twice as fast as a conventional tourbillon. A cone-shaped, mirror-polished ring around the cage reflects light onto it, making the movement even more striking to watch.
This example is cased in platinum, 42mm across and 13.6mm high, with a salmon dial dated 06/2026 and the hour display at 3 o’clock on a Grand Feu enamel dial. The dial is formed by the engraved and hand-painted 18k rose gold bridges, decorated with Clous de Paris guilloché, a first for this reference. Small seconds sit at 6 o’clock, the power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock, and the vertical tourbillon at 9 o’clock.
Inside is Calibre 1519, a manual-winding movement made in 18k rose gold, with 230 components and 32 jewels, beating at 21,600 vph (3 Hz). It delivers 80 hours of power reserve, and is finished by hand with Clous de Paris guilloché on the bridges, circular Geneva waves on the baseplate, and polished, bevelled screw heads.
